  • Corina Demetriou
    Co-Founder & Director
    Corina Demetriou is a lawyer and legal researcher since 1985. She is in charge of data collection and coordination for the FRANET Cypriot team and serves as national expert in several EU-wide networks of expertise, including the European Network of Legal Experts in the Non-discrimination Field. She is an expert in discrimination and migration and has authored a number of fundamental rights reports for EU level organisations such as ICF, European Human Consultancies, the Migration Policy Group and Milieu. She is a consultant for the Council of Europe with expertise in the areas of SOGIESC and is regularly contracted by the European University Institute in Florence for conducting national level studies.
  • Nicos Trimikliniotis
    Co-Founder & Research Manager
    Nicos Trimikliniotis is a scholar whose work spans multiple disciplines, primarily focusing on socio-legal studies. He is a Professor of Sociology, Social Sciences, and Law at the University of Nicosia (UNIC), leads the Centre for Fundamental Rights that coordinates the experts of the Cypriot team for the Fundamental Rights Agency of the EU and Principal Investigator in Digital Transitions & Society (DIGITS), an interdisciplinary research initiative that critically examines how emerging technologies, including AI, shape cultural and political systems.
  • Vassilis Tsianos
    Social Expert
    Vassilis Tsianos is a Professor of sociology at University of Kiel. He is a migration expert who has developed innovative research methods, including ‘nethography’ of border regimes, which examine data processing and surveillance to study the intersection of migration, asylum, discrimination, EU integration and fundamental rights. These methods assist scholars immensely in explaining the operational effectiveness of proper monitoring of fundamental rights and to assess the sociological implications for policy-making.
  • Aristoteles Constantinides
    Legal Expert
    Aristoteles Constantinides is a leading expert on fundamental rights in Cyprus, advising the Government, the Attorney General, the Ministry of Justice and the police on human rights. He is the author of the Cyprus National Action Plan for Human Rights (commissioned by the Ministry of Justice and adopted by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus).
  • Costas Constantinou
    Costas M. Constantinou is Professor of International Relations at the University of Cyprus with cross-cutting interests in diplomacy, conflict, international political theory, and legal and normative aspects of international relations. He is a FRANET expert with several eminent appointments, including serving in the Executive Committee of the European Court of Arbitration and as an advisor on minority language rights to the Government.
  • Philippe Jougleux
    Legal Expert
    Philippe Jougleux is Associate Professor at the Law School of European University Cyprus, teaching Cypriot civil law (civil wrongs and contract law), EU copyright law and EU Internet law. He is a FRANET expert and the leading authority in Cyprus on privacy and the protection of information in new technologies, combining expertise in civil law, copyright law, law of the internet and new technologies, data protection and cybercrime.
  • Corina Drousiotou
    Legal Expert
    Corina Drousiotou is a lawyer and legal expert in European, International, Human Rights and and Asylum Law. She has been coordinating the Cyprus Refugee Council since its establishment, authoring the AIDA reports on Cyprus for ECRE and serves as ELENA Coordinator for Cyprus. She co-authors the FRANET quarterly migration bulletin together with Corina Demetriou and Nicos Trimikliniotis.
  • Tina Stavrinaki
    Legal Expert
    Tina Stavrinaki is Assistant Professor in Human Rights and International Law with the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights (SIM) and the International and European Law Department. She is a FRANET expert, a researcher of RENFORCE and Member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (Vice-Chairperson 2022-2024) and Rapporteur on the General Recommendation on racial discrimination and the right to health. She has extensive experience with the National Human Rights Institution and the UNHCR in Greece. She co-founded and coordinated the Racist Violence Recording Network, recognised as best practice in recording hate crimes, supporting victims and building synergies between human rights institutions, civil society, and national authorities.

    Elena Mara is an expert human rights, refugee protection, national and social security, society and multi-level governance terrorism with work experience on the ground on refugee recognition with emphasis on vulnerability assessment
